For more than 137 years, the Tournament of Roses has dazzled as the crown jewel of New Year celebrations. Each year, crowds flock to experience the magic of Band Fest, marvel at the intricate Float Decorations, and revel in the countless festivities that transform the parade into a true spectacle. The parade usually sails down Colorado Boulevard beneath sunny skies or gentle clouds, rarely touched by rain. Yet in 2026, the parade will unfold beneath a curtain of rain.
Over its 137 years, the Rose Parade has been rained on a few times. The last rainstorm was twenty years ago, in 2006. Organizers worried the rain might damage the floats and harm participants. Still, the parade continued. Attendees protected themselves and performed their musical numbers. Dancers moved as if on a Broadway stage. Flowers on the floats glittered as rain splashed over the arrangements. In other words, the parade marched on. And so will the upcoming Rose Parade.
