For more than 137 years, the Tournament of Roses has dazzled as the crown jewel of New Year celebrations. Each year, crowds flock to experience the magic of Band Fest, marvel at the intricate Float Decorations, and revel in the countless festivities that transform the parade into a true spectacle. The parade usually sails down Colorado Boulevard beneath sunny skies or gentle clouds, rarely touched by rain. Yet in 2026, the parade will unfold beneath a curtain of rain.

Over its 137 years, the Rose Parade has been rained on a few times. The last rainstorm was twenty years ago, in 2006. Organizers worried the rain might damage the floats and harm participants. Still, the parade continued. Attendees protected themselves and performed their musical numbers. Dancers moved as if on a Broadway stage. Flowers on the floats glittered as rain splashed over the arrangements. In other words, the parade marched on. And so will the upcoming Rose Parade.

As the 137th Tournament of Roses is about to take its stroll on January 1st, organizers and volunteers work around the clock to ensure the parade will be magnificent despite the

rainstorm.

As you prepare, the city of Pasadena reminds people that umbrellas are not permitted along the parade route because they block others' views. If you plan on attending the parade, may you have a safe and happy new year!
