Sipping Wine at the OC Wine Festival

The OC Wine Festival. What is a better way to explore and enjoy different types of wines? Well, that is what my family and friends conjured.

While the event was canceled last year in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, it made its return to the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds on September 10-11, 2022. Attending the event, I was skeptical about trying out wines since I am primarily a beer and wine cooler type; I thought, "Why not expand my horizon." Upon arrival, attendees each obtained one wine glass that featured the OC Wine Festival stamp per glass. The atmosphere was exuberant with attendees drinking and communicating with each other Each booth was spaced and contained different brands of red and white wines.

A succulent taste and smell had gotten my attention. I savored a cabernet sauvignon brand from "Dani Gold Wine" company and a red wine experience from various vendors.

One company, in particular, is called, "Golden Coast Mead." Speaking to the clerk, I asked, "What makes your drinks special"? He said, "The flavor of honey", and he was right. The signature drink was called, 'The Wildflower Sweet'. Manufacture with their signature honey that the company harvest from their honey bee hives.

This particular company has many perks. One being a duo that is right in the heart of the Orange County name "Wine Guy and Wine Gal". I spoke to the Wine Gal herself and she explained that the nature of their brand is taste and where it was brewed in the heart of 'Soma Valley'.

Moving forward, I met a group from Torrance, California where there brewery is based upon 'Fruit Wines' Sometimes it is tough to find good fruit wine, hence some are water down, in which, makes the taste bland. The company, 'Sweet Neat' beats the stereotype with their rich flavor of pineapple, cherry, mango, and peach wines.

The Xoloitzcuintle had their brand of Tequila. Speaking to a clerk about being a first-timer, he recommends a shot of the "Xoloitzcuintle Plata." The taste was very soothing, that I decided to try their other signature Tequila, "Xoloitzcuintle Extra Anejo."

The OC Wine Fest was a great experience. As I mentioned earlier this is my first time attending a wine festival. I had a such a good time with my friends and family that I am planning on attending another festival. But not too soon. Please drink responsibly .
